The Wayanad District at present, compared to the other districts of Kerala, is a fast developing tourism destination, mainly concerned with the eco and biological tourism. Wayanad is enriched with glories of heritage, glimpses of greeneries, rhythmic mountains and valleys and the hide and seek streams. Unlike other Districts, Wayanad is mainly depending in the income from agricultural tourism.

When we think about Wayanad in 2020, we have to think about the development in tourism by protecting all natural phenomena and preserving cultural and agricultural structure. While thinking about this, the first and foremost thing we have to consider is the mode of transportation. The present condition of reachability   to Wayanad by road alone is an infirmity, when a development is focused on tourism. Here the necessity of reaching by railway and domestic air service is a must when we think of 2020. Apart from that the present condition of road has to be changed in such a way, when tourist reach here can enjoy the surroundings instead of putting care on the roads.  That is, when the reachability is only by road ways, the roads must be smooth and attractive.

Coming to the field of agriculture  , the flourishing spices of Wayanad   which attracted the Douche and Portuguese  even , and also was a link of business in between old Persian and Chinese market  , is not at all promoted and projected before the world as it deserves.   Once a tourist taste the ‘Jeerakasala” and “Gandhakasala” rice of Wayanad, it will be a spicy remembrance to him throughout  his life. To achieve this, facility shall be there to experience this flourishing taste to the tourists.  If all the tourism promoters in Wayanad encourage these Wayanadan products in their food menus, it will result in reviving the traditional food culture instead of fast food mania.  This can also increase the production of Wayanadan products, which can have a worldwide exposure.

To achieve this , the ‘wayanad vision 2020’ Is launching a global platform inviting each and every one who is interested to achieve these objects  and also interested to protect    the natural , environmental , heritagial  and infrastructural developments  , to comment on these  vision and to contribute their own suggestions and creative directions to uplift these heritagial unique treasure of the world.
